Consolidator One Four Nine has appointed Patrick Goulding, Kingswood’s former platform boss, as its chief financial officer.

Goulding, a chartered accountant who has also held roles at Schroders, ING and Morgan Stanley, was brought in to help lead the consolidator’s growth plans, the firm said in an announcement today (February 7).

The firm highlighted Goulding’s experience managing acquisitions, securing external funding and overseeing the restructure of businesses as reasons for bringing him onboard.

“Having spent my entire career in the financial services sector, you learn to spot the leading firms with an innovative edge and One Four Nine stood out,” Goulding said.

“I am delighted at the opportunity to join such an entrepreneurial and energetic firm at an early stage in its journey and relish the chance to contribute to the long-term success of the business, its adviser community and, ultimately, its clients.”

One Four Nine is a consolidator targeting professional services firms which own or have a joint venture with financial advice firms, as well as stand alone financial advisers.

It also has a discretionary fund manager, One Four Nine Portfolio Management, which offers active, passive and sustainable model portfolios to clients.

Earlier this month, it acquired a financial planning firm in the south of England, adding 12 employees and £240mn of assets under management to the group.

In October, One Four Nine acquired Charter Financial Planning and Rice Whatmough Crozier, two financial advisory firms totalling seven advisers and £300mn in assets under management

This year, the consolidator said it had a “strong pipeline of additional opportunities at various stages of due diligence”, hinting at more deals to come.

In his new role, Goulding will work closely with One Four Nine’s chief executive Matthew Bugden, who spent 18 years at Ingenious, most recently as a director.

“We have worked tirelessly to build a modern and dynamic environment to drive success, so it was important to me to appoint a CFO who is equally motivated to grow the business with us,” said Bugden.

“Welcoming someone of Patrick’s calibre is a testament to the professionalism and quality embedded within the entire One Four Nine. He complements our existing leadership team and with our strong pipeline of organic growth and acquisition opportunities I am looking forward to everything we will achieve together.”
