Legal & General’s managing director of investments Simon Ellis is leaving the group, Investment Adviser can reveal.

Mr Ellis will be replaced in the role by Simon Pistell, currently managing director, RDR programme.

A spokeswoman confirmed Mr Ellis (pictured) would leave the company but did not provide a specific date for his departure.

Mr Ellis has formerly worked as head of UK retail at Henderson, chief executive for multi-manager and UK retail at Axa Investment Managers and managing director of multi-manager at Fidelity.

He joined Legal & General in October 2009 and is also currently a non-executive director at the Financial Services Skills Council.

In his time at Legal & General he has continued to promote the company’s investment range to the retail market, and become one of the UK’s leading provider commentators on financial adviser regulatory issues.

Mr Pistell joined L&G in 2001.
