Lawrence Cook, director of marketing and business development for Thesis, said the range comprised of seven risk-rated portfolios, using a mixture of collective funds.

He claimed this was in response to “a number of financial adviser inquiries”, and there had already been intermediary interest in the proposition through Ascentric.

Mr Cook said: “This is our initial move into model portfolios. Being able to provide advisers and their clients with a range of services is important to us, and adding model portfolios to our offering is a significant step.”

Mike Morrow, sales and marketing director for Ascentric, said: “Post-RDR, centralised investment propositions are playing an increasingly important role. The addition of Thesis broadens the choice of discretionary fund managers available on the platform and is a solution that will resonate well with our users.”

Mr Cook said Thesis also intended to create more partnerships this year with IFAs who have decided to adopt the model portfolios to service their client base. Thesis expected these developing partnerships to contribute significantly towards its growth in assets in the coming months.

The move comes a few weeks after Brighton-based advisory firm Antrams outsourced its model portfolio management to Thesis.

Lester Killip, chartered financial planner for East Sussex-based Antrams, said: “Thesis provides initial due diligence in terms of the selection of the trackers and exchange-traded funds, which are carefully blended to produce seven risk-rated portfolios.

“These portfolios have been designed to reflect the specific outcomes of Antrams’ investment philosophy and will be managed using a long-term strategic asset allocation process. We have a strong focus on keeping client costs down as much as possible and this enables us to achieve that aim. We are also offering clients the standard Thesis passive model portfolios, which are rebalanced tactically, so there will be a model portfolio solution to suit the majority of Antrams’ client base.

“Before clients invest, Antrams will conduct the appropriate attitude to risk assessment. We believe that this important element of the client/adviser relationship should remain our responsibility and not be passed to the investment manager.”
