The chief executive of the SimplyBiz-owned New Model Business Academy said the SimplyBiz Protection Academy, offered advisers using the firm’s ‘simply protect’ proposition a range of training and development tools, including fact sheets, role-play outlines, sales ideas and instructional videos.

Mr Travis added: “Protection is a vitally important piece of advice in the overall needs of clients and can be a very profitable revenue stream for advisers.

“We are certain that this additional investment into the advisory community can help users to realise greater potential in this area.”

Martin Reynolds, chief executive of SimplyBiz Mortgages, said: “The service aims to help advisers have more profitable conversations with clients, understand better how protection can fit into a client’s financial plans and learn new sales techniques.

“This is the first of a number of new protection initiatives and we are confident it will be a popular development among our members.”

Malcolm Steel, chartered financial planner for Edinburgh-based Mearns & Company, said: “Protection is one of the foundation stones of the financial planning process from our point of view, and we have a huge protection gap in this country, so anything that is done to lessen this gap and educate advisers has to be a good thing.”
