Jupiter is to launch a US equity fund for small and mid cap specialist manager Robert Siddles, who joined in January from F&C Investments, Investment Adviser can reveal.

The product, named the Jupiter US Small and Mid Cap Companies fund, is slated for launch on May 12 and will be run under the same strategy as the Jupiter US Smaller Companies investment trust, which transferred to Jupiter from F&C with Mr Siddles.

The trust invests in companies of between $100m and $5bn in size and is benchmarked against the Russell 2000 index.

The trust - which Mr Siddles has run since 2001 - has seen its shares gain 179.1 per cent in the 10 years to April 11.

At F&C Mr Siddles ran the £101m US Smaller Companies fund, which is now run by Nish Patel.

In the 10 years until his departure from the company in October the fund posted a 163 per cent return according to FE Analytics, compared with a 140.9 per cent return from the Russell 2000 index in sterling terms.
