Mark Hoskin, 42, won the Unbiased Responsible Investment Adviser of the Year award in 2014 and has been an IFA in the UK for 15 years, specialising in ethical investment advice.

He said: “I am married to a New Zealander and the deal was that we would always go back. My first child is nearly school age, so that’s why we are going now.”

Mr Hoskin added that he is considering sitting his financial adviser exams in New Zealand after a five-month stint travelling around Europe with his family.

Following his move, Holden and Partners announced that Andrew Johnston and Mark Dodd have both become full equity partners.

Tim Cosway, managing partner at Holden and Partners, said: “Mr Hoskin will be missed by everyone here, but Mr Johnston and Mr Dodd were always going to be full equity partners, and we welcome them.”

BACKGROUND

Mr Hoskin’s departure from the world of ethical advice follows the retirement of Brigid Benson, who founded Manchester-based advisory firm Gaeia in 1993.

Ms Benson, who started out as an IFA in 1989 following a spell teaching Spanish and French in Latin America, said: “I have always lived life by my values, and believe strongly we have a duty to care about human rights and the environment.”
