Exeter Family Friendly has increased its medical underwriting limits for its plan for low-risk workers, Income One.

The income protection provider has made the application process quicker for advisers and customers. which it said was “part of an ongoing drive to streamline the application process and improve the journey for advisers”.

From now on, for applicants under the age of 46, Exeter Family now only need a GP report for application purposes, if their benefit is more than £5,000 each month.

Alan Ord, head of operations at the firm, said: “Income protection sales have never reached their potential and one of the major reasons has been the complex and sometimes lengthy application and underwriting process - we’re determined to tackle this.

“This is just the first in a number of enhancements we are working on to make our application process quicker and smoother than it has ever been. This is essentially a simple step, but one which will have an immediate impact for advisers.”
