European stockmarkets have moved slightly higher in early morning trading, in spite of concerns around the Russia and Ukraine situation.

Reports have suggested Russian troops have entered Ukraine, and the rising geopolitical tension saw the US markets close lower, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.25 per cent, and the S&P 500 slipping 0.17 per cent to bring it back below the 2,000 mark.

In Europe, however, the FTSE 100 index was up 0.33 per cent to 6,828 at 8.34am, while the FTSE EuroFirst 300 moved up 0.49 per cent. The Cac 40 in France and Germany’s Dax also both moved 0.5 per cent higher in early trading.
