Vanguard launches diversified ETFs on LSE

Vanguard has launched four Irish-domiciled exchange-traded funds on the London Stock Exchange, aiming to offer low-cost equity portfolios with greater international diversification.

All of Vanguard’s European ETF suite hold physical securities and track the performance of FTSE indexes at costs ranging from 0.07 per cent to 0.29 per cent

Its FTSE 250 Ucits ETF holds most of the stocks that make up the FTSE 250 index

The FTSE North America Ucits ETF uses an index-sampling strategy to invest in large- and mid-cap stocks of the United States and Canada

Vanguard’s FTSE Developed Europe ex UK Ucits ETF holds large- and mid-cap stocks from 15 developed continental European markets

The FTSE Developed World Ucits ETF uses an index-sampling strategy to invest in stocks of large and mid-size companies in 25 developed markets

Adviser verdict

Dean Aitchison, investment manager for Essex-based KMD Private Wealth Management, said: “These are fairly cheap. You are starting to see more lower cost ETFs coming through. We are looking to hold a smart-beta type product. We want to try to get some return over the benchmark.”
