Royal London Asset Management

Wholly owned by life and pensions business the Royal London Group, Royal London Asset Management (Rlam) was established as a fund management house in 1988.

Based in the City of London, Rlam has more than 70 investment professionals who run assets under management of roughly £77.8bn, as of August 31 2014.

Its product range covers most major asset classes, with its fixed income team headed by Jonathan Platt with roughly £36bn in assets, while chief investment officer Robert Talbut leads its equities team, with roughly £23bn in assets. Rlam also produces a strong showing in both cash management and property, with the latter team led by Gareth Dickson with approximately £3.3bn of assets invested in the UK commercial property market.

In 2014 the firm has three funds appearing in the Investment Adviser 100 Club, showcasing some of its best-known funds including its UK Equity Income fund managed by Martin Cholwill and its Sterling Extra Yield Bond fund run by Eric Holt.
