Canada Life Group Insurance has renewed its RedArc Personal Nurse Adviser service provision, available to all group critical illness claimants, marketing director Paul Avis has announced.

He said: “As well as providing a financial benefit, we believe that we have a responsibility to support employees, both pre- and post-claim.”

The service, which was introduced in 2011, has seen almost 100 per cent take-up rates by claimants in 2014.

The insurer has augmented the relationship with RedArc, part of PHP Group, by also contracting to provide a treatment sourcing service from subsidiary Medical Care Direct.

Treatment sourcing allows employers or individuals to find the most convenient location and competitive cost for privately funded medical treatment.

Mr Avis said: “Augmenting this with the MCD Treatment Sourcing Service further emphasises our focus on support for the employer, employee and their family members. This is support beyond the pure financial benefits that group risk insurers provide.”

In July 2013, RedArc revealed that 13m working days could be lost each year as a result of mental health issues. Ian Howell, IFA for Norwich-based Capital Tower said: “Mental health problems have caused big concerns; I suppose longer working hours and increasing workloads make mental heath programmes especially necessary.”
