Health cash plan provider Health Shield is set to launch three new benefits and a product enhancement early next year.

The new services are a reward website, online GP consultations, a private prescription service and product enhancements, including an employee assistance program.

Health Shield said its employee assistance program has been re-designed to help members beyond financial assistance by offering additional support services, such as an increase in the number of face-to-face counselling sessions from six to eight.

The virtual GP surgery gives members access to online consultations via a webcam, following which the GP can raise an electronic private prescription and, where appropriate, a copy of the consultation notes can be sent to the member’s own doctor.

Philip Wood, executive director for sales and marketing at Health Shield, said: “We believe these innovations and enhancements will also be invaluable to business owners, especially for SMEs, who may have employees that need help which they do not have the resources to provide.”
