Paraplanner apprenticeship scheme launched

The UK government has launched an apprenticeship scheme aiming at anyone wanting to get into a paraplanning career in its own right or as a stepping stone to financial services area.

Sara Arthur of Elite Paraplanner was appointed on the government steering group employer board to shape the role of the paraplanning. She said the objective of the government trailblazer campaign is to promote apprenticeships as an alternative to university and promote inclusive education.

The programme also aims to encourage employers to take part with full support given by the scheme and a grant of £10,000 per apprentice taken on board. Through the scheme, new entrants are given the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification and develop professional skills, while earning a salary, inside some of Britain’s best companies.

Ms Arthur said the scheme offers access to training, educational resources, networking and support.

Last year, Lee Travis of Simply Biz Group, which is part of the Financial Services Trailblazer scheme said, “the paraplanner plays a key role in financial planning, with increasing demand from businesses right across the sector,” adding, “this demand, plus the ongoing need to attract ‘new blood’ into our profession makes this an ideal path for entry and/or career development, and is also an ideal progression route for those successfully completing the first Financial Services Trailblazer apprenticeship - Financial Administrator.”
