Equiniti strengthens team with double hire

Pension administration software provider Equiniti has appointed Duncan Watson as managing director for data solutions and Paul Sturgess as director for pension administration and strategy.

Mr Watson will be responsible for managing the businesses strategic development across the firm’s data solutions propositions and scheme compliance, while Mr Sturgess will be responsible for the pension administration business and for developing strategy to meet the evolving needs of schemes.

Mr Sturgess joins from Capita, where he had been a board member and led their auto-enrolment developments, most recently heading up their defined contribution consulting team and the Teachers’ Pensions contract team.

Mr Watson is a pension actuary and joins from Aon Hewitt, where he was their UK chief operating officer, with responsibility for over 2,250 UK and 650 overseas pension experts.

Ric Williams, managing director of Equiniti Pension Solutions, said that the industry is facing fundamental change, so the new recruits will be delivering solutions that position Equiniti ahead of the competition.

Mr Watson commented that the firm has undergone material change in a market that has itself been changing fast.

“Equiniti has grasped the need and opportunity to transform into an organisation that supports the new world of the ‘retirement wealth journey’ rather than just offering what are becoming increasingly historical ‘pensions’ products and services.”
