Charles Stanley Direct appoints new MD

Magnus Wheatley has been appointed as managing director at Charles Stanley Direct.

Alongside this, the firm has appointed Marcus Tree as head of digital operations, with oversight of the dedicated client helpdesk and administration hub in Edinburgh.

Elsewhere, Mike Lilwall remains as head of proposition for Charles Stanley Direct, in addition to his role as director of Charles Stanley Group.

The investment helpdesk in Beverley, Yorkshire and underlying business, Garrison Investment Analysis, will report directly to Mr Lilwall.

Charles Stanley said that the delivery, style and output of research on the Charles Stanley Direct platform will be closer aligned to Charles Stanley Group Research functions.

The Foundation Portfolios and Foundation Fundlists will be managed by the group’s collectives research team in London and headed by Stephen Peters, supported by the considerable experience and talent of the collectives research team.

Paul Abberley, chief executive of Charles Stanley, said: “The board sees Charles Stanley Direct as a strong component of the group’s overall strategy and are committed to its long-term success.

“Integrating the structure and personnel of Charles Stanley Direct and the group is a logical step to creating a more efficient business that meets clients’ needs. These changes will help ensure that Charles Stanley Direct has the resource and investment to achieve its potential.”
