BlackRock unveils free adviser tool

BlackRock has unveiled a digital resource it hopes will promote greater levels of engagement with advisers.

The Adviser Exchange will offer market insights from key figures at BlackRock, and also give advisers free access to a range of Morningstar client portfolio-modelling tools.

In addition to market views, the service will provide advisers with information to support their portfolio construction and offer guidance on wealth management issues, including retirement planning and practice management.

There will also be a weekly email sent at 8.40am each Monday morning that summarises the previous week’s market news, gives BlackRock’s views and features a chart of the week.

BlackRock’s head of UK retail sales Jeremy Roberts said the move had been in response to feedback from adviser focus groups. He added that he wanted to “reach as many of the 25,000 advisers out there as we can in the most effective way”.

“This is not just a way of advisers coming to our site to extract information, but about an exchange of information and taking communication with advisers to a new level,” he said.

Mr Roberts also said he hoped the service would launch a range of structured CPD content for advisers who attend its digital events or courses.

Morningstar UK chief executive Mark Roomans said much of its work was focused on supporting advisers and what they did for investors. He said offering its portfolio tools through the BlackRock service meant it could “support these efforts”.
