Lazard launches long/short European fund

Lazard Asset Management has launched a European Alternative fund for Leopold Arminjon, who joined the firm from Henderson Global Investors earlier this year.

The Ucits fund will hold approximately 60 long and short positions in European large and mid-cap companies, and will be managed from the firm’s London office..

Mr Arminjon will be supported by Nitin Arora, who has joined the fund house from HSBC, where he worked as a lead equity research analyst.

Mr Arminjon, meanwhile, joined Lazard in June from Henderson, where he was lead portfolio manager of the Henderson Horizon Pan-European Alpha fund and the AlphaGen Tucana fund.

The manager said: “The nascent European recovery offers an attractive backdrop for investors, but remains complex and volatile as evidenced by the sovereign crises of the past few years. This strategy can take steps to adapt to these circumstances with a view to protect capital.”
