Gordon Brown joins Pimco

Former UK prime minister Gordon Brown has joined a newly-established advisory panel at Pimco, his first corporate role since quitting politics in 2014.

Mr Brown forms part of a five-strong global advisory board at Pimco, which will also include former US Federal Reserve chair Ben Bernanke and former European Central Bank president Jean-Claude Trichet.

The panel will meet several times a year at Pimco offices, providing insight on global economic, political and strategic developments and their relevance to investment markets.

Mr Bernanke will chair the panel, which also includes Ng Kok Song, former chief investment officer of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, and former US state department director of policy planning Anne-Marie Slaughter.

Pimco chief executive Douglas Hodge said: “Sharing insights on how global macroeconomic and geopolitical policy affects markets and investments is an important part of the value we bring to investors as stewards of their assets, so our clients will benefit greatly from the experience and insight the Global Advisory Board will provide to us.”
