Miton hires Andrew Jackson to run UK Value Opps

Miton Group has hired Andrew Jackson to take over the running of the CF Miton UK Value Opportunities fund.

He will join the firm on June 27 to manage the fund currently run by George Godber and Georgina Hamilton, who Investment Adviser revealed last month are to join Polar Capital.

Mr Jackson was previously a fund manager at Ecclesiastical, now EdenTree Investment Management, managing the UK Equity Growth fund for almost 12 years until July 2015.

Gervais Williams, Miton’s managing director, said: “Andrew has all of the strengths for the role, including a record of impressive returns over an extended period. He is very well suited to taking a leadership role on the CF Miton UK Value Opportunities Fund, given the fund already has a history of delivering attractive returns, with stock weightings that are largely independent of the mainstream indices.

“At Miton we have a history of recruiting fund managers who can excel within our genuinely active investing culture.”

Earlier this month Miton said it had hired a headhunter to replace the duo, who are serving out their notice periods, as the fund’s assets dropped from £869m at the end of March to £590m a month later.

The fund has delivered a three year return of 53.3 per cent for the three years to May 18 2016 compared to the Investment Association UK All Companies sector average of 12.3 per cent, according to data from FE Analytics.
