James Hay has hired Cofunds’ Paul Bagley as director of distribution development as part of a senior management restructure.

Mr Bagley was previously head of regional sales at Cofunds where he worked with James Hay’s chief executive Alastair Conway, who took on the role earlier this year.

The platform provider has also appointed former Fidelity head of platform development Pete Burtonshaw as its chief operating officer. Mr Burtonshaw was previously interim head of strategic integration at Openwork.

Richard Valentine, currently James Hay’s chief operating officer, will instead become managing director of the group’s operations in Bristol. The company said it was seeking to appoint a commercial director in the near future.

Two other senior staff have changed their job titles, with Phil Newton becoming director of sales and technical support and Chris Smeaton becoming director of marketing.

Mr Conway said: “I inherited an extremely strong management team that drew on its expertise and inexhaustible drive to see the business successfully through RDR. The addition of Pete’s extensive experience, especially around supporting the customer journey, will ensure we’re equally successful in navigating the new challenges that lie ahead.”
