JO Hambro Capital Management (JOHCM) has hired three portfolio managers to form a new small and mid-cap US equity team.

The team is comprised of Thorsten Becker, Arun Daniel and Vincent Rivers as portfolio managers and trader Eric Yi, who were all previously at Pyramis Global Advisors, a Fidelity Investments company, where they helped manage a US small and mid-cap core equity strategy.

The appointments come ahead of the planned launch of a US small and mid-cap equity strategy later this quarter for JOHCM. The company said the team would employ a core investment approach for the new strategy, using a fundamental research-driven best ideas portfolio.

It will have a capacity of $5bn (£2.9bn) and the company added there are further plans for the team to launch a global small and mid-cap equity strategy “in due course”.

Gavin Rochussen, chief executive of JOHCM, said: “The appointment of these experienced and proven US equities investors enhances our presence in the US, a market where we are making considerable inroads, and enables us to widen our investment fund range.”
