The Pensions Trust has appointed Mike Ramsey as its new chief executive, after acting as interim chief executive since April.

The post became available at the end of March after Stephen Nichols stood down as chief executive.

Mr Ramsey has experience from similar roles at Axa, Aegon, Cigna and American Express. His most recent role was as chief executive at Barbon Insurance Group.

He will now be responsible for leading The Pensions Trust and will act as the main link between the trustee board and the senior management group, in addition to formulating investment and business strategy.

Mr Ramsey’s appointment comes during a time of restructure for The Pensions Trust, with a drive to focus the business on strategic development.

Sarah Smart, chair of trustee board, said: “Against some stiff competition, the board has agreed that Mike has the right blend of leadership skills, strategic visions and change management capability to lead the trust through the next stage of its development.”

Mr Ramsey added: “I am looking forward to my new role at The Pensions Trust and continuing the work which I have been a part of since April this year.”
