Schroders’ Alan Brown is to retire from the group he joined in 2005 as its chief investment officer.

Mr Brown has most recently had a part-time role as a senior adviser, which began in 2012.

During his tenure at the group, assets under management and profitability have “more than doubled”, according to the group.

Michael Dobson, chief executive of Schroders, said: “Alan has played a major role in that success, particularly in the development of our fixed income and multi-asset businesses and many institutional client relationships in the UK and internationally.

“I am delighted that he will remain connected with Schroders, serving as a trustee of the Schroders pension scheme and chairman of its investment committee.

“We thank Alan for his significant contribution and wish him well in his retirement.”
