Jupiter Fund Management has hired Stephen Mitchell from Caledonia Investments to spearhead a new drive to expand its global equities division.

Mr Mitchell has been hired as head of strategy for global equities and will arrive from Caledonia at the start of 2015.

In the newly-created role, Mr Mitchell will be tasked with “developing Jupiter’s global equity business for institutional and retail investors in the UK and international markets”.

Stephen Pearson, head of investment at Jupiter, said the hire of Mr Mitchell will allow the firm to “bring together our global equity capability under a single head to coordinate our efforts”.

“This will enable us to broaden and strengthen our product range in the future,” he said.

At Caledonia Investments, Mr Mitchell had been an associate director since 2011 and managed the global income and growth portion of an investment trust.

Prior to joining Caledonia he had been at Fleming & Co and then JPMorgan Asset Management.
