Jamie Farquhar joins Square Mile

JPMorgan Asset Management’s (JPMAM’s) Jamie Farquhar has left the group for Square Mile Investment Consulting & Research.

Mr Farquhar, who had been at JPMAM for three years and was heavily involved in its flagship Fusion multi-manager range, has left the asset manager to become the director of business development for Square Mile.

His new role will see him head up the development of Square Mile’s services and he will also sit on the executive management team, reporting to managing director Richard Romer-Lee.

At the beginning of this year, Square Mile co-founder and director Nigel Whittingham left the company to return to South Africa for family reasons.

As head of panelling Jamie was responsible for working with clients in a sales capacity, not for managing investment strategies. His previous roles included head of sales for JPMorgan Adviser Solutions, which included Tony Lanning’s Fusion fund range.

Mr Farquhar’s former roles in his 23-year investment career include head of UK retail at F&C and London & Capital, as well as head of investment at Aviva.

In addition to Mr Farquhar, John Braybrook, regional sales manager for the south-west, has also left JPMAM.

Mr Braybrook, who had been at the company for just one year, was previously at Aviva Investors, where he had been a sales manager for three years.

JPMAM said rather than find direct replacements for the roles, Mr Farquhar and Mr Braybrook’s responsibilities had been given to members of their teams.

NOTE: This article has been corrected since publication. Mr Farquhar’s role was not related to investment management as previously reported.
