Lenders cut rates across LTV ranges

Lower headline rates on mortgages with loan-to-values rates from 60 to 95 per cent were introduced this week by a variety of banks and building societies.

Eight deals were pitched at the 60 or 65 per cent LTV range, with both remortgages and buy-to-let catered for, while seven deals were available at 90 or 95 per cent LTV.

Norwich and Peterborough Building Society cut rates at either end, and Richard Barker, mortgage product manager, commented that the 95 per cent LTV deals will give people with smaller deposits value for money, lowering the initial costs of buying a first home.

HSBC pitched new buy-to-let deals at 65 and 75 per cent LTV, giving access to customers on its Advance and Premier current accounts, while Kris Brewster, Skipton’s head of products, said its latest product range update “offers fee and rate options to suit a number of different borrower requirements”.

Earlier in the week FTAdviser reported that Nationwide pulled its ‘market-leading’ 10-year mortgage rate for new customers, but other changes were made to its two-year fixed rates for switchers at 60 per cent, 70 per cent and 90 per cent LTV.
