Resolution has appointed 15 people from both the Friends Life Group and Resolution as directors on a new single streamlined board, with the current non-executive chairman of Resolution taking only a temporary role as the firm announced he will step down once a successor is appointed.

The main appointments are Mike Biggs, non-executive chairman, Sir Malcolm Williamson, non-executive deputy chairman, Andy Briggs, group CEO, and Tim Tookey, group CFO.

The company expects to appoint an additional independent non-executive director, not drawn from either of the existing RSL and FLG boards, in due course.

Mr Biggs will hand over to a new chairman once the transition has been completed, with the firm saying he considers the governance changes create a “natural point” at which to appoint a new chairman.

The company has commenced an appointment process for the new chairman and the additional independent non-executive director, led by Phil Hodkinson, senior independent director.
