Franklin Templeton has hired Mark Dunn from Carmignac Gestion to spearhead its discretionary sales team in the UK.

The move completes an overhaul of the company’s UK strategy, according to head of retail sales Alex Brotherston, which last year saw the appointment of Mark Elliott from BlackRock to lead advisory sales.

Franklin Templeton also last year reworked its UK-based fund offering to focus on ‘core’ products such as those run by the Leeds-based UK equity team.

Mr Dunn is to join the company on April 1 and will report to Mr Brotherston. He worked for Carmignac as sales director for the UK for two years, and was previously head of strategic business development at LV Asset Management.

Mr Brotherston said: “We now have the structure in place to continue our growth in the retail market.

“Discretionary is the core of our UK business at the moment so it was a very important recruitment for us.”
