GLG Partners has hired Adrian Edwards to assist Stephen Harker on its Japan CoreAlpha funds.

Mr Edwards has joined GLG from Stratton Street Capital, where he had been an assistant fund manager on the firm’s Japanese equity strategies.

He has been hired as a portfolio manager, working with Mr Harker, Jeffrey Atherton and Neil Edwards on the UK-domiciled £1.3bn GLG Japan CoreAlpha fund and the Dublin-domiciled $4.4bn (£2.6bn) Japan CoreAlpha Equity fund.

The UK-domiciled fund has delivered top-decile performance since Mr Harker took it on at the start of 2006 but it is in the third quartile of the IMA Japan sector in the past five years.
