An outdoor conference focused on issues affecting the UK paraplanner industry has ended with talk of a two-day event in 2015, its founder has said.
Richard Allum, managing director of Oxfordshire-based The Paraplanners, said the powwow event, which saw paraplanners gather in the North -amptonshire countryside to sit in teepees discussing industry developments, had grown and found plenty of new material to discuss in its second year.
He said the event had 77 participants this year, compared to 60 in 2013, and that the “quality of the debate” had been better.
He added: “There was a lot of key stuff on standards, CPD, getting the recognition of paraplanners and how to get new blood into paraplanning.
“We could have talked for another day. We might do it next year as a two-day event.”
The original powwow has inspired smaller events in places including London, Nottingham, Manchester and Leeds.

Malcolm Smith, chartered financial planner for Oxfordshire-based Ellacotts Wealth Planning, said: “The powwow is a fantastic idea. People coming into the industry see that sort of thing and realise it can be interesting.”
