Northern Ireland buyers need smallest deposits

Homemovers in Northern Ireland have to put up the smallest average deposit, figures from Lloyds Bank show.

People hoping to buy a house in Northern Ireland only have to find a deposit of £40,128, which is 27 per cent of the average property price of £149,392.

In London, where deposits are highest, £166,265 is needed, which is 35 per cent of the average property value of £480,416.

This is more than four times bigger than in Northern Ireland.

The average deposit put down by a homemover in 2014 was £83,302, 9 per cent higher than in 2013 when it was £76,739.

This equates to 33 per cent of the average price paid by homemovers of £252,064, the latest Lloyds Bank Homemovers Review shows.
