VitalityLife replaces PruProtect brand

The PruProtect brand has come to an end this week, to be definitively replaced by VitalityLife, meaning advisers may have to update their literature and any apps they use.

Since Friday, all marketing and other communications will be branded as either VitalityLife or the composite brand of Vitality Health and Life.

The company’s head of marketing Kelly Thomas has sent out a note warning of the consequences of forgetting this change and highlighting what changes to documentation are needed.

She said: “Shortly after this date, we will no longer have a licence to use the PruProtect brand, and any breach would be an infringement of Prudential’s trademarks and could result in significant legal consequences.”

Background

PruProtect was launched in 2007 as a joint venture between Prudential and Discovery.

In 2010, Discovery increased its shareholding to 75 per cent, and in November 2014 it acquired the remaining share capital of Prudential Health Holdings, rebranding it to Vitality.

The acquisition was part of the South African firm’s ambition to establish a second-home market in the UK.
