One of the world’s largest independent financial advisory consultancies, deVere Group, has launched a legal services referral programme facilitated by its new alliance with global law firm Stephenson Harwood LLP.

deVere Group Executive Manager, Bill Tatham, said: “Through our day-to-day work of advising our expatriate and high net-worth clients on their financial strategies, we find that many need to seek expert legal opinion on various issues, including real estate transactions, wills and succession planning, inheritance tax solutions, specialist trust incorporation, employment contract advice and litigation.

Mr Tatham added: “There is a perfect synergy in this tie-up. Both firms are industry-leading in their respective sectors, both have a truly global presence, and both have vast experience and expertise in delivering bespoke solutions to clients.”

The programme will allow deVere’s 80,000 clients to access legal advice at preferential rates.

Simon Webster, managing director at Ashford based Facts & Figures chartered financial planners said: “There are so many touch points between the work of financial advisers and the work of lawyers. The fact that one of the biggest law firms and one of the biggest financial advisory firms is doing this is merely confirming what people like me have known for years – that this is the way of the future.

“It’s a very sound commercial practice and the way of the future. I am surprised this is not happening every day. This is absolutely the way to go.”
