Lib-Dem Mr Webb was minister of state for pensions between 2010 and 2015 before losing his parliamentary seat of Thornberry and Yate in May’s general election.
He was known as one of the longest-serving and reforming pensions ministers, who helped reignite a savings culture in the UK. However, industry figures have said the two main policies he worked on, auto-enrolment and the state pension, may still disintegrate.
