Bower Retirement Services has appointed Clara Curtis as national account manager as part of its plans to expand referral services and build on its introducer business.

Following the company’s appointment as one of four national equity release specialists in the Legal & General Mortgage Club panel, Ms Curtis will take responsibility for building on existing introducer business being referred to Bower Retirement Services.

Geoff Charles, chief executive of Bower Retirement Services, said: “Investing further in Bower Partnerships was the logical next step as we are receiving referrals from a range of introducers who wanted to offer specialist advice to clients, but did not have the in-house expertise or experience.”

The appointment comes following strong growth in the market sector, which recorded £1.16bn in the nine months to September.

Industry view

Nigel Waterson, chairman of the Equity Release Council, said: “There is increasing recognition that equity release will play a crucial role in supporting the UK’s ageing population and providing more people with financial security in later life. Demand for equity release is already on the rise, and industry growth is important to extend the reach of specialist advice so people can make the best use of their housing wealth.

“On a broader level, government and regulators should consider ways to support efforts within the sector to raise awareness both among consumers and advisers, as well as continuing to innovate to suit a broad spectrum of clients and their individual circumstances.”
