A growing number of people are looking to boost their retirement funds by selling or renting property.

According to research conducted by Baring Asset Management, approximately one in 12 people – 8.3 per cent – intend to sell their private residences in order to fund their retirements.

This figure is up on 7 per cent in 2014 and 5 per cent in 2013. Barings’ study also revealed that 10 per cent plan to fund their retirements through either selling or renting properties other than their main residences.
