Skipton Building Society showed its responsible side with a week-long, bumper events programme to mark Responsible Business Week.

The national initiative, organised by UK charity Business in the Community, aims to raise awareness of the impact companies can make on social and environmental issues.

Skipton hosted a variety of events throughout the week, including inviting its charity partners, Cancer Support Yorkshire and Down Syndrome Training and Support, as well the Principle Trust, NSPCC and Craven Volunteering Bureau, into the Society’s head office to give presentations about their work. Skipton staff were given the chance to find out how they can help with volunteering.

The company also held a fundraising day, and Peter Evans, Skipton’s carbon reduction coordinator, gave a demonstration on how the society is reducing its carbon footprint.

Skipton has been shortlisted for The Experian Building Stronger Communities Award at the Responsible Business Awards. Winners will be announced on 11 July 2016 at the BITC Annual Responsible Business Gala.
