Almost half – 46 per cent – said the new Lifetime Isa would make it easier to save, according to Skipton Building Society.

Those with household earnings of more than £35,000 were more likely to believe it would be easier to save for retirement, while those with a household income of less than £20,000 are most likely to believe that the new Lifetime Isa will make no difference.

Among those aged under 40, middle and high earners are also the most likely to take advantage of the new savings programme.
