Man GLG names new CIO

Pierre-Henri Flamand has been appointed chief investment officer at Man GLG, a fund business of Man Group.

Mark Jones, who is currently co-chief executive of Man GLG, will be appointed chief financial officer and an executive director of Man Group.

He will assume the role, subject to regulatory approval, from Jonathan Sorrell who has been given a new remit as president of the group.

According to a statement, Mr Flamand will work alongside Teun Johnston who remains chief executive of Man GLG.

Mr Flamand joined as a portfolio manager at Man GLG, having run Europe-focused hedge fund Edoma Capital Partners previously. Prior to that, he spent 15 years at Goldman Sachs where he ran the principal strategies group.

The senior management changes follow the appointment of Luke Ellis as chief executive of Man Group after the departure of Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Roman in July.

Mr Ellis said: “The firm has changed a great deal in the past few years and, with my own role also changing, it made sense to look at the way we are organised and where different responsibilities should lie, so that we have the optimal structure in place to serve our clients and assist me in leading the firm through the next phase of development.

“From a strategic and operational viewpoint, very little will change and we will continue in a ‘business as usual’ manner as the changes are implemented as seamlessly as possible.”

The group also announced Sandy Rattray as chief investment officer of Man Group, with responsibility for Man AHL, Man Numeric, Man GLG and Man Solutions, which was previously part of Mr Ellis’ role while he served as president of the firm.
