Update: Brazier quits Threadneedle to join Investec

Threadneedle’s head of UK equities Simon Brazier has quit the firm to join Investec Asset Management, along with fellow manager Blake Hutchins and three junior team members.

Threadneedle’s head of equities Leigh Harrison has taken on the responsibility for the UK equity team, a role that he had previously held between 2006 and 2011.

Chris Kinder has taken on the management of Mr Brazier and Mr Hutchins’ Threadneedle UK fund.

Mr Kinder has been managing the Threadneedle UK Extended Alpha since 2010.

Mr Brazier and Mr Hutchins, as well as analysts Ben Needham and Anna Farmbrough and product specialist Neil Finlay, have all joined Investec.

Investec said Mr Brazier would be running “UK Equity funds consistent with his current UK alpha strategy”, while Investec is planning to launch a UK Equity Income fund for Mr Hutchins.

Mr Brazier will become co-head of Investec’s quality team, along with Clyde Rossouw, manager of the Investec Global Franchise fund.

The board of the Threadneedle UK Select investment trust, which had been managed by Mr Brazier since 2012, has put out a statement saying that Mr Kinder will be managing the trust on an interim basis.

The statement said the board was “discussing successor arrangements with Threadneedle” and that “a further announcement will be made in due course”.
