Aberdeen bolsters global distribution team

Aberdeen Asset Management has made a series of hires in a bid to bolster its global distribution team.

The fund house has hired John Campbell as global head of strategic clients, with former Artemis retail head Richard Pursglove joining on a consultancy basis.

Mr Campbell will start in January to focus on building relationships with Aberdeen's larger clients. He joins from State Street where he was business head of global services UK, Middle East and Africa.

Meanwhile Antony John, former chief executive of BNP Paribas Investment Partners joins Mr Pursglove in consultancy roles, where the pair will focus on Aberdeen's distribution strategy.

All will report to Campbell Fleming, who joined Aberdeen from Columbia Threadneedle earlier this year as global head of distribution.

Mr Fleming said: "Aberdeen is one of the few global asset managers to offer such a comprehensive range of investment capabilities from equities and fixed income through to property, alternatives and multi-asset portfolios.

"We’ve got to map these to the specific needs of our clients. The whole team globally is going to be focused on doing this and these new appointments will really help those efforts.”

In addition, Jeff Klepacki, who has worked at the likes of Capital Group and Allianz Global Investors, joins next year in the role of head of distribution, Americas.

In a statement the company said: "Jeff will provide vital leadership for Aberdeen’s distribution efforts in the Americas where the group already manages around $65bn."
