Are mortgage lenders overreacting to market volatility?

When HSBC emailed brokers at 12.40pm on June 8 to say it was temporarily withdrawing certain mortgage products, Michelle Lawson, a mortgage broker, was frustrated but found some small solace in that the bank had given a deadline of 5pm that day.
