Why should advisers consider joining the global MDRT community?

MDRT is an exclusive community that exists to help fellow financial professionals and our clients. It’s no question that MDRT is an association comprised of the “best of the best”, because membership is limited to top performing professionals.

We are held accountable to keeping MDRT’s strict professional and ethical standards – giving our clients added assurance we are operating in their best interest.

In order to qualify for membership each year, these standards need to be upheld and we need to meet performance requirements as well.

Learning from others

MDRT provides a unique mix of peer-to-peer networking and educational resources that I can use to help my clients. A sampling of the tools available at members’ fingertips include:

• Case studies which provide real-life examples of new, innovative ways I can help clients.

• A member-exclusive resource area that provides access to latest thinking on financial topics and trends that matter most to my clients. It also features materials to help educate my clients on why it’s important for them and their financial goals that I am an MDRT member.

• Collaboration with other advisors who have success with the goals and challenges that are very similar to mine – and are willing to offer advice and solutions.

• Mentor opportunities that give me access to ideas about client solutions from up-and-coming advisers.

Being a member has given me access to innovative ideas from peers that I’ve implemented into my practice and helped meet my client’s financial goals.

These best practices have helped me grow my business, so much so that it brought me to Top of the Table status for 11 years and counting.

But no matter how successful we are together, there is always room for growth – MDRT motivates and compels me to constantly go the extra mile for my clients.

Four days of non-stop inspiration

I was first persuaded to join MDRT by my direct sales manager in 1977, but didn’t attend my first Annual Meeting until 1994.

Afterwards, I immediately regretted I didn’t go much earlier. MDRT meetings feature inspirational speakers who guide and energise me to be the best adviser and person I can be.

Attending the four-day conference provides members with the opportunity to meet peers from around the world which gives a unique opportunity to learn from different business cultures as well.

In addition to the annual meeting, MDRT hosts focus sessions, top-of-the-table events, volunteer opportunities through the MDRT Foundation and more.

Each event provides varying levels of knowledge sharing on industry challenges, opportunities and best practices.

Room for growth in the UK

There are probably thousands of top performing financial advisers in the United Kingdom who would be eligible for membership.

We would love to grow our local network and open access to greater growth to as many of these top performers as possible. Right now though, of the more than 49,500 global MDRT members there are a mere 117 registered members from the UK.
