World Financial Planning Day is on October 3, and the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment will be holding Financial Planning Week as well that week to coincide with this auspicious day.

The Financial Planning Standards Board Council is a forum for member organisations from around the world, including the CISI in the UK, that seeks to build awareness of CFPTM marks and the profession of financial planning. There are more than 160,000 certified financial planners around the world, with about 1,000 in the UK.

During the WFPD and throughout the week, more than 175,000 CFPTM professionals will provide free surgeries and generally spread awareness of financial planning and its benefits to promote consumer awareness and understanding of financial planning.

Financial Planning Week 2018 represents a national initiative to bring financial planning to the consumer forefront. The week brings together CFPTM professionals, accredited financial planning firms, members of the CISI financial planner forum, schools, universities and the media in a bid to improve the financial fitness of the UK public.

The aim is to help individuals to draw up their own personal, financial master plan, incorporating all of life’s milestones, whether that be preparing for retirement, buying a home, being newly married, or starting a business. This is something everyone can benefit from, not just the wealthy.

Why is it needed? Too few understand the real impact of true financial planning and how a creative financial planner can help people live the lives they really want – plan well to live well. Most consumers do not know the difference, and every year it is hoped a few more people will understand how setting goals and objectives and establishing a plan can help them realise their hopes and dreams.

It is not too late to get involved if you are a financial planner professional, but if you’re not then contact the CISI or one of the many CFPsTM in the UK who can show you how to develop a more profitable way of working.
