Now: Pensions names Clutterbuck as chief

Now: Pensions has appointed Troy Clutterbuck as chief executive on a permanent basis.

Mr Clutterbuck was appointed interim chief executive of the workplace pension provider last year after his predecessor Morten Nilsson was ousted by the board.

Before becoming interim chief executive, Mr Clutterbuck was chief financial officer at Now: Pensions.

Henrik Ramlau-Hansen, chairman of Now: Pensions, said: "Troy has clearly demonstrated his credentials as chief executive and shown strong leadership in recent months. The board is looking forward to working with him as Now: Pensions enters its next phase."

Mr Nilsson left his position in August 2017, with the board claiming the time was right for a "change in executive management" because auto-enrolment was reaching its conclusion.

Since Mr Nilsson's departure, Now: Pensions has been fined £50,000 by The Pensions Regulator for failing to ensure that all employee and employer contributions were collected and invested promptly over the period from 6 April 2015 to 8 August 2017.

In January the regulator issued a second fine, of £20,000, due to the trustees failing to keep some members properly informed and a third fine of £70,000 was issued in February due to administrative issues with collecting contributions, and to failing to communicate these problems to members.

Mr Clutterbuck said: "With the significant investment and improvements we have made in processes, people and platforms we are very well positioned for the future.

"We have a strong business, built on a sustainable business model which entered profitability in April. I am proud of what Now: Pensions has achieved so far and look forward to leading the business."

Before joining Now: Pensions, Mr Clutterbuck held a number of key roles over 15-years with Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group including chief financial officer for UK employee benefits and commercial director for Latin America and Canada.

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Denmark's ATP, one of Europe's largest pension funds, Now: Pensions is the UK's third largest auto-enrolment provider with more than 1.6 million members and more than 32,000 employers.

It has more than £600m in assets under management.
