Aviva revamps protection platform

Aviva has updated its online protection platform to help intermediaries compare client quotes for multiple products.

The insurer introduced the option of printing a client quote illustration and now allows advisers to edit client details at any point in the process.

This makes it easier to generate, edit and compare quotes for multiple products and to compare quotes for the same product with variations, Aviva stated.

It stated it had updated the Aviva Life Protection System in response to feedback from financial advisers and hoped the revised service would reduce the time required to produce quotes.

Mark Cracknell, head of protection distribution at Aviva, said: "We’ve been able to respond directly to what advisers have been telling us, in implementing this latest upgrade to our platform.

"The changes mean it’s now quicker and easier for advisers to generate quotes and options for their clients, and to do business with us."

Mr Cracknell said the flexibility of the new platform matched that of the products and should allow intermediaries to offer their clients better choice.

He added: "We have more to come as we continue to listen and make improvements that help support the way advisers do business."

Adam Higgs, head of research at Protection Guru, told FTAdviser Aviva’s digital proposition has improved significantly in recent months.

He said: "The Aviva offerings have become extremely flexible allowing advisers to tailor policies to the exact needs of their clients. As such, there is an abundance of choices the adviser can present to their clients and the ability to generate the costs for each variation quickly and easily will be hugely beneficial."

Rob Harvey, head of protection advice at financial adviser Drewberry, said Aviva now had "one of the simplest and easiest-to-use adviser application systems on the market," citing the quality of the company’s rules-based underwriting engine.

He said: "Where advisers have been hampered using it in the past has been around some absent functions, so it's great to see Aviva act on this and invest in their systems to meet some of these gaps.

"While the protection industry still lags behind other financial services sectors in its utilisation of technology to improve the journey for both adviser and their client, there are now increasingly some bright spots in this area.

"This includes Aviva, particularly with its MyAviva customer portal as well."
