Royal London bolsters protection business with senior hires
Fiona Wynn and Mark Preston have been announced as additions to Royal London's protection business (Visionhaus)

Royal London has appointed two senior managers in its protection business.

These appointments include Fiona Wynn, who will join as head of protection proposition, and Mark Preston, who will take over as service delivery manager with responsibility for large cases.

Royal London protection director, Carrie Johnson, said: “Mark and Fiona are excellent additions to our talented team. They’re both well-known and well-regarded in the protection industry.”

Wynn previously acted as head of products within Legal and General’s retail protection division.

Royal London said this will allow her to bring a strong background in end-to-end proposition development and customer engagement, including experience within reinsurance.

Meanwhile, Preston was most recently supporting Aegon UK’s individual protection business, which will transfer to Royal London later this year, and brings a "wealth of experience" as a technical underwriter and operational manager.

He has built up specialist knowledge of medical and financial underwriting, using this to develop market-leading underwriting propositions.

Bolstering its support for advisers, the duo will ensure that the mutual continues to enhance its overall proposition including its high net worth offering.

Johnson additionally stated that Royal London has a “clear ambition” to continue to strengthen its position in the protection market and, therefore, welcomes both the appointments on board to help shape the future development of our value proposition.
