Changes at the top of Quilter as Baines stands down

The chief executive of Quilter Cheviot will stand down amid a number of changes at the top of the wealth manager.

Martin Baines, who has run the discretionary fund manager for 15 years, will act as a senior adviser to the Quilter Cheviot board through 2019.

His replacement will be Andy McGlone, who is currently managing director of Quilter Cheviot and who will replace Mr Baines on the Quilter executive committee.

Mr McGlone has worked at Quilter Cheviot for his entire career, having joined in 1994.

In his new role Mr Baines will report directly to Paul Feeney, the chief executive of parent company Quilter, and Ian Buckley, the recently-appointed chairman of Quilter Cheviot who joined from Rathbones with Philip Tew, a recently-appointed non-executive director who joined from PwC.

Meanwhile Steve Braudo will stand down as chief operating officer of Quilter to pursue other opportunities and will be replaced by Karin Cook, who is currently group director for operations at Lloyds Banking Group.

Ms Cook will join the Quilter executive committee along with Michelle Andrews, the company's chief marketing officer, Peter Kenny, who has become chief executive of Old Mutual International, and Jane Goodland, who has been promoted to corporate affairs director.

Paul Feeney, the chief executive of Quilter, said: "I am delighted that Andy, Karin, Peter, Michelle and Jane are joining my executive team as all bring valuable experience and skills.

"I am delighted that I will continue to work with Martin in his new role and also welcome Ian and Philip to our organisation. On behalf of everyone at Quilter, I would like to thank Steve Braudo for his valuable contribution.

"Over the last two years, Steve has supported our managed separation from Old Mutual, our listing on the London and Johannesburg Stock Exchanges and has established robust governance and IT standards within Quilter. We wish him well for the future."
