Legal & General appoints partnerships MD

Legal & General has appointed Ali Crossley as managing director of partnerships, to replace the previous role holder after his move to the US.

Ms Crossley will take up the position at the provider’s insurance division, Legal & General Insurance, on March 4 2019 and will report to chief executive Bernie Hickman.

Ms Crossley joins from digital insurance distributor BGL, where she held the title of managing director of the firm’s Junction division and managed affinity partner brands such as M&S and Lloyds Banking Group.

Prior to BGL, Ms Crossley held a number of positions at Saga Personal Finance as chief operating officer, Prudential as marketing director and Barclays as a marketing director.

Ms Crossley will replace Mark Holweger, who transferred to the US arm of the insurance division, Legal & General Insurance America, as chief executive in September 2018.

Ms Crossley said she was joining Legal & General at an "unprecedented" opportunity in the life and mortgage markets.

She said: "We have new entrants and established players thinking very hard about how to optimise customer experience right across the value chain.

"Legal & General is the leader in its fields for good reason and has a great reputation for delivering long standing, mutually beneficial partnerships. I am honoured to be joining such an impressive, dedicated and collaborative team."

Bernie Hickman, chief executive at Legal & General Insurance, said: "I'm delighted that Ali has agreed to join Legal & General, as our new managing director for partnerships.

"Ali brings a wealth of experience and expertise in developing commercial partnerships which will further enhance and help position Legal & General as the number one partner of choice."
