PIMFA launches senior managers webinars

The Personal Investment Management and Financial Advice Association has launched a series of webinars and podcasts offering guidance to advisers ahead of the implementation of the Senior Managers & Certification Regime later this year.

The Financial Conduct Authority is due to roll-out the SM&CR, which currently applies to banks, across the wider financial services industry on December 9, with Pimfa estimating the new rules will impact affect more than 229,000 investment firms, approved and certified persons.

In response the trade association has launched free webinars and podcasts, available to members and non-members, offering guidance on the regulatory changes for those "financial services professionals unable to take time out of the office to attend an event".

Philip Allen, head of learning and development at Pimfa, said: "The SM&CR regime will be a major project for all firms, large and small, and there will be a significant amount of work required in order for firms to be fully compliant before the deadline.

"Our new learning and development platform will allow investment managers and financial advisers an opportunity to learn and develop new skills direct from their desktops, tablets and mobile phones, anywhere in the world."

Two webinars in the programme will address the SM&CR, with additional sessions focusing on compliance, pensions and savings, financial crime, the EU and Brexit.

The sessions will also offer continuing professional development (CPD) hours.
